Bhavnagar, a city located on sea coast of Gujarat, started women education movement in early 20th Century under the aegis of erstwhile princely rule. Even today, Bhavnagar has many industrial units chemicals, engineering, ship building and ship recycling, - still it is more known as a cultural and educational seat of Gujarat.

At the time of diamond jubilee celebration in 1985 and later the well-known philanthropist shri Dipchandbhai Gardi gave a large donation and “ Bhavnagar Stree Kelavani Mandal “ was renamed as “ Smt. Rukshamanibahen Dipchand Gardi Bhavnagar Stree Kelavani Mandal “
